Weekend Project Post
Was sick for the better part of the day yesterday and cold meds do some hilarious things to your priorities, let me tell you. So it looks like our first Saturday Project Post will be on a, er, Sunday.
So here's how this is going to work: every Saturday, a mod will make a post with themed threads that members can reply to and discuss in. We've picked some themes to start but depending on what direction the posts take, threads may be modified or added.
See the starter comments below to get an idea of the format, and comment away! If you have any questions or want to discuss something not covered by the main threads, reply here!

Collaborations!
Note: This is not a request thread. The point is not for you to ask people to make things for you, but with you, cool? Cool!
Newsea Love Affair Hair Edit

I Wish There Was More ...
The point of this thread is to hopefully inspire people to make more of whatever you think is lacking. Again, it's not for specific requests, there are other places for that. This is just to give a general idea of what you would personally like to see more of from creators.

Pregnant morphs on TF clothes, especially period meshes. Because somebody who wants to play a clueless teen hobag would be perfectly content with unbuttoned Daisy Dukes painted on the nude mesh, but there's a certain portion of the population where... *makes up names* Lady Miranda of Stonebridge is married, expecting her second child, and all of fifteen. (And even for the clueless teen hobags, there should be some nice long dress morphs-- otherwise, how's she going to have that baby in the girls' room at prom? ... Which totally sounds like something a Sim would do anyway...) Also, pregnant morphs on period menswear. Really, though, there are just never enough pregmorphs-- not even for AF.
And hey, here's a nice general one-- Really good seamless wooden floors, with planks and no pegs or nails showing, in heaps of colors. I have SO MANY floors, but I only ever seem to use a few of them... because all the ones with the good seamless textures have never-ending planks.
I'll stop there, because there are lots of generalized things I wish there were more of.

I've always wanted a decent pigtails mesh, one that isn't too poofy at the crown, doesn't stick out too far from the head or look like Sailor Moon hair (the pigtails should be low-sitting, like below the ear instead of on top of the head), doesn't have any stupid accessories like hair bands or bows, has decent looking hair ties (I don't like it when the hair ties are the same texture as the hair itself), and is really long (close to waist-length, but can be alpha-edited to be shorter). Oh, and it should animate nicely, and be for all ages, and can be made either straight or wavy. The hair that looks closest to what I would want is this (http://svs.paysites.mustbedestroyed.org:8080/booty/ts2/peggy/gifts/dec_06/special_gift_2006_12_december.jpg) ancient hair by Peggy, but it's too short and the way it's meshed makes it damn near impossible to retexture. I actually want a pigtails hair for a character sim, but I have to settle for the not-so-great Peggy hair.
Maxis buy and build retextures. I can't get enough of them.

This week in Simming is highly distractable. But I DID finally get the joints nice and dark on my Servo, so there's that!

I had been meaning to start making public posts with this New New Game, even though it's basically a content test, but then I was an idiot and accidentally made REALLY SMALL screenshots. Not entirely given up on it, but I'll have to dig up a fractal image resizer, see how it works. Tiny screenshots BAD.
I also did the Photoshop work for a range of skins I was thinking I'd try, which I haven't gotten around to actually making into skins because... it's a Pooklet 3.0 range using Pixie Chalk as the base to make Volatile from, so that's a range of 42 skins complete. Argh. Also, some of the skins have very clear banding that I'm going to have to smooth out first. Not sure whether I'm going to geneticize them as 0 to 1 with default replacements, for a completely weird neighborhood, or do the naturals as 0 to 0.99 and the customs as 1 to 2.
Re: General Sims Chatter
I also have massively failed on keeping my game files organized right now most of the stuff I've downloaded is in a lovely folder called "Needs to be sorted" yeaaaah probably not gonna happen. Why am I so useless at this? Grr.
General Non-Sims Chatter
Re: General Non-Sims Chatter
The Manual of Detection, Jedediah Berry. A charming, surreal take on the noir detective fiction genre, following office clerk Charles Unwin as he tries to solve the mystery of where a famous detective disappeared to, and why he was promoted to fill the detective's shoes. It's like City of the Lost Children meets Raymond Chandler, with a lot of charm, grace, and whimsy.
I, Lucifer, Glen Duncan. A strange little novel where Lucifer is offered a chance at redemption -- all he has to do is live out the life of a failed author who was about to commit suicide. He decides to try it out for a month, using the opportunity to write out his story -- and proves that he doesn't know nearly as much about himself, angels, or humanity as he thinks he does.
