Weekend Project Post

Was sick for the better part of the day yesterday and cold meds do some hilarious things to your priorities, let me tell you. So it looks like our first Saturday Project Post will be on a, er, Sunday.

So here's how this is going to work: every Saturday, a mod will make a post with themed threads that members can reply to and discuss in. We've picked some themes to start but depending on what direction the posts take, threads may be modified or added.

See the starter comments below to get an idea of the format, and comment away! If you have any questions or want to discuss something not covered by the main threads, reply here!

Medieval hats as accessories. (Anybody who knows me knew something like that was coming.) Medieval men's hats, either as accessories or as hairs (some wouldn't work as accessories; they're too close to the head.) I will find you pictures.

Pregnant morphs on TF clothes, especially period meshes. Because somebody who wants to play a clueless teen hobag would be perfectly content with unbuttoned Daisy Dukes painted on the nude mesh, but there's a certain portion of the population where... *makes up names* Lady Miranda of Stonebridge is married, expecting her second child, and all of fifteen. (And even for the clueless teen hobags, there should be some nice long dress morphs-- otherwise, how's she going to have that baby in the girls' room at prom? ... Which totally sounds like something a Sim would do anyway...) Also, pregnant morphs on period menswear. Really, though, there are just never enough pregmorphs-- not even for AF.

And hey, here's a nice general one-- Really good seamless wooden floors, with planks and no pegs or nails showing, in heaps of colors. I have SO MANY floors, but I only ever seem to use a few of them... because all the ones with the good seamless textures have never-ending planks.

I'll stop there, because there are lots of generalized things I wish there were more of.

TOILETS. Or toilet recolors. Either way: the world needs more.

This might be a crazy idea, but I was thinking... a mixture of neon toilets and patterned-ish ones, similar to the kind of stuff that Ja does.

Recolors of Buggybooz's meshes. Especially the Office Allsorts set, which could use some metal and plastic recolors - like shiny brand-new filing cabinets, dull steel with a few nicks, and shiny new plastic and oldish plastic. I don't see too many office filing cabinets in wood, so metal and plastic seems much more logical to me. Actually, any nice recolors of Buggybooz's meshes would be great.

I've always wanted a decent pigtails mesh, one that isn't too poofy at the crown, doesn't stick out too far from the head or look like Sailor Moon hair (the pigtails should be low-sitting, like below the ear instead of on top of the head), doesn't have any stupid accessories like hair bands or bows, has decent looking hair ties (I don't like it when the hair ties are the same texture as the hair itself), and is really long (close to waist-length, but can be alpha-edited to be shorter). Oh, and it should animate nicely, and be for all ages, and can be made either straight or wavy. The hair that looks closest to what I would want is this (http://svs.paysites.mustbedestroyed.org:8080/booty/ts2/peggy/gifts/dec_06/special_gift_2006_12_december.jpg) ancient hair by Peggy, but it's too short and the way it's meshed makes it damn near impossible to retexture. I actually want a pigtails hair for a character sim, but I have to settle for the not-so-great Peggy hair.

Maxis buy and build retextures. I can't get enough of them.

Oops - I'm really sorry about the link screwup, but I can't seem to fix it. :(

Are Nouk's Two Wavy Tails too much in the face for your tastes? They animate nicely, but alas the bangs are linked to the ponytails, so they can't be thinned or removed without the rest of the hair doing the same thing. (It made me VERY sad.)

... Ooooh. I REALLY like this hair on toddlers and girls, but not being able to edit out the bangs when there's a perfectly passable hairline up under there makes me sulk and pout.

The mesh is pretty cute, but the chunks of hair kind of bother me. A lot of Nouk's hairs have the strands clumped together in big chunks, instead of individual strands. Also, I wish the fringe wasn't so long. I'd like to have a pigtails hair without fringe or bangs!

Dude, seriously, so would I. I tried alpha-editing the bangs off of Nouk's mesh there and... well, the pigtails went away, too, and I was sad.

You mean like the ones that came with H&M? They don't have the converse logo, but I'm pretty sure that was the inspiration. They're also actually on a mesh. C:

I'm going to be making the chucks of Aikea's that I use into high-tops that can be paired with non-pants meshes.

FOODS. I can't remember who it was, but someone at GOS posted a request for ideas for making custom food. I had so many ideas, but I don't think any of them got made. Specifically, I'd like more meals that look like complete meals (such as pasta with a side salad and vegetables, instead of just pasta), some fruit desserts, and maybe some themed meals, like picnic lunches or junk food meals (twinkie casserole, anyone?)

MOAR ALIEN STUFF. And I don't mean skins and makeup, though those are always nice, I mean clothing and furniture and clutter and build-mode stuff! My alien 'hood is actually on another planet in the fooooture and while I'm working on stuff for it (very slowly) it would be lovely to have more...
