Was sick for the better part of the day yesterday and cold meds do some hilarious things to your priorities, let me tell you. So it looks like our first Saturday Project Post will be on a, er, Sunday.

So here's how this is going to work: every Saturday, a mod will make a post with themed threads that members can reply to and discuss in. We've picked some themes to start but depending on what direction the posts take, threads may be modified or added.

I HEARD YOU LEFT THE COMPUTER AT SOME POINT THIS WEEK. What was that like? If you just want to blather or let off steam about the week you had outside of sims, share non-sim links of interest or what have you, this is the thread for it!

I'll save the jokes about the big game out there called Real Life, although that's where I've been for the past, what, month and a half. I came back from a long trip overseas on Wednesday with two pairs of Doc Martens and a whole stack of books. Of them, I've read two so far:

The Manual of Detection, Jedediah Berry. A charming, surreal take on the noir detective fiction genre, following office clerk Charles Unwin as he tries to solve the mystery of where a famous detective disappeared to, and why he was promoted to fill the detective's shoes. It's like City of the Lost Children meets Raymond Chandler, with a lot of charm, grace, and whimsy.

I, Lucifer, Glen Duncan. A strange little novel where Lucifer is offered a chance at redemption -- all he has to do is live out the life of a failed author who was about to commit suicide. He decides to try it out for a month, using the opportunity to write out his story -- and proves that he doesn't know nearly as much about himself, angels, or humanity as he thinks he does.

That second book sounds awesome. I tend to stray away from stories about biblical characters because while I find them super interesting, the religious bent that (understandably) usually comes along with makes me kind of uncomfortable. Which is why I loved Good Omens so much. Angels and devils and anti-Christs, oh my, but without much overtly Christian sentiment, you know? /babble

I love Good Omens too, for those very reasons. :D (Well, and that I adore the writing of both co-authors.) I'm an atheist-leaning agnostic, so as you can imagine I'm pretty allergic to being preached to.

I, Lucifer is heavier on the theology and rather less flippant, but it's firmly on the side of humanity, and the themes are very much about humans and what we do to one another.

Which is what interests me more, yeah. I was really lucky to take a fantastic course on ancient and biblical literature my first year of college, taught as literature rather than religious doctrine and it has imbued me with a deep affection for fictionalizations of the heaven/hell myth. Blab blab blab.

My boyfriend got arrested (partially?) for petty larson (he stole the license plates off a car. WHY. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT.) He did it to get back at this completely DOUCHEBAG. Seriously, I cannot stress that enough. Said douchebag forced himself on me. The boyfriend cannot stop thinking about it. This happened almost two months ago. I've moved on. Apparently the boyfriend did not. So he vandalized the douchebag's car and stole his plates (again, WHY. I can easily think of many other violent and ~better~ things to do...) He got the police called on him. Now the boyfriend is all SUPER DEPRESSED and his parents hate me because they know he did it because of me. SO YEAH. This week has been GREAT. -_-

I have been on such a dance music kick and I am not even a little bit sorry.

I've been obsessed with Dragon Age lately and dude, it is seriously fucking amazing.

Dad is driving again!! Whoo i don't have to drive him everywhere..i still get to live there though...not so whoo.

Boyfriend is just grr and having as much emotions as a rock.

I turn 21 this weekend!!!.......Not that that changes anything really anyway. :P
