I, uh, was going to start a Medieval 'hood because I was looking at Hat's Dreamwidth and I was like "Ooh ooh, I want one!". Then I went on a downloading spree and was extremely excited until I actually got INTO the game and started a new hood. I then remembered what I didn't like about starting a new 'hood from scratch...it's from scratch. I then became obnoxiously lazy, and... my endeavors went no where. Thank goodness I put everything in a "Medieval Hood" folder, so I could just take it out before my game dies.

I'm ~still~ working on recoloring some of Mouseyblue's eyes, but I don't know what colors I want D: I did get the original set genetisized though, along with a new set of defaults I thought that was going to be way harder than it was :D

And there's a hair that's sitting on my hard drive because I've had the male version Pooklet'd since before Christmas but I don't want to do the female version, when it's really more of a feminine hair anyways. Lazy lazy lazy lazy *grumbles*

Having other stuff before releasing something is pretty much the reason I seem to do fifteen-to-twenty hairs at a time. "Oh come on who is going to click for just one hair when all I have are crappy Body Shop previews? ... oh my god my bandwidth..."

I made a new custom neighborhood, and discovered that custom neighborhood objects slow my game down so it's almost unplayable, so I deleted them. I never bother with decorating my neighborhoods, but I had a fit of madness that made me want to make my neighborhoods all pretty.

Also, my game crashed last time I tried to make my sims buy clothes, because I have too many custom clothes. Restraint, I have none.

I don't know if I know any more about object creation than you, Hat, but I'm willing to take a look at them if you're still looking for a volunteer? Maybe a fresh pair of eyes will spot something you missed...

The 'green homes' one looks rather interesting...

I have to confess that (being British) I tend to build more European-style houses, and found this on a recent hunt for floor-plans:

I had a most enjoyable but marginally frustrating week away from home, computerless, by the sea; little snippets of Sims-related inspiration kept popping into my head, such as an idea for some new makeup or some-such, and there was bog all I could do about it! :D

Still, I ate lots of ice-cream and did lots of paddling in the sea, so I guess it was worthwhile. :P

*zips them, flings them online*

I would dearly appreciate it if you wouldn't mind prodding at them a bit! I know bupkiss about object creation, and all the tutorials I looked at started from places I didn't need. I've got everything but the textures working; in-game they all appear as silver coins. (And okay, I do want to tweak the side-of-coin textures, but I can do that once they, you know. Work.)

Righty-oh! *plonks them in projects folder*

I'll have a poke at them when I get home from work, over a cuppa (lubricates the brain, you know).

EDIT FOR A QUICK QUESTION: they're all showing up as only silver, the single and multiple ones?

Awesome! Thank you so much-- you know, I've never been big on hot beverages (except sweet cider, an exception I can't explain), but if it lubricates the brain, maybe I oughta start. *grins*

Whoops, sorry, missed the edit for a while.

Yes, every last one-- single, stack of ten, stack of... er, fifty or a hundred or whatever it was... *forgot* I managed to get the single copper one to look copper in the catalog, but in the game, it's still silver.

Re: Collaborations!

[personal profile] curiousb 2010-06-30 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, Hat, I think I've found your problem. The internal name for all the coins is identical, when it should be unique for each of them (i.e. each new object with its own GUID must have its own internal name). So, when the game loads up, the coins are all referring to the same object, hence they all have the same texture (and probably also the same game-play properties, although I didn't test that). (Is this making sense?!)

Now the bad news: I tried to fix it, but got a weird error in SimPE, which just made everything worse. So, unfortunately, I think you are going to have to remake them from scratch!

When you clone the original object, you need to make sure that you enter a unique name for each of your coins in the Scenegraph Rename Wizard dialogue that pops up.

I use this tutorial here on object creation: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=104795. Obviously, just ignore the stuff about Milkshape and UV mapping, and follow the instructions on what to do in SimPE when creating a new object, and hopefully it should work!

EDIT: oh, and it looks as though the original object was cloned from a base-game mesh, so I think they are already base-game compatible. :)

*downloads tutorial* I'll have a look at that in a bit, thank you-- I don't remember anything called a Scenegraph Rename Wizard so I was probably doing something wrong or just backwards. Fingers crossed!

Will that mesh conversion include a retexture? I love the shape, but the original textures remind me of something that came out of the Mop-Top Hair Shop playdoh set I had as a kid.

Half the problem is no one realizes that you need to sculpt a neutral-faced sim with a neutral face and not paint on expression lines. (Then you need to look at all ages, breed with face-template sims, and TWEAK.)

I love Twilight like I love Attack of the Clones--because the best comedy is often unintentional.

quinctia, I think you've really hit the nail on the head there - I've always liked the mesh too, but something about the texture always bothered me, and now I know what it was! :D

Hee, playdoh. X) I'm going to be using AlfredAskew's curly retexture on it, Pooklet'd (with matching Pooklet'd versions for the guys).

Adult clothing converted to teens, like some of amaryll's beautiful meshes, or separates meshes. I badly wish I knew how to mesh.
