Bi-weekly (errr...) Project Post

Looks like meatspace and other concerns ate up the last month and a half for way too many of us. *coughs, shuffles feet* Whoops! Let's get back into gear, shall we?

Reply to this comment with the details of your project/idea/what have you and if someone's interest, they can comment back to you and you can sort out the details.

Note: This is not a request thread. The point is not for you to ask people to make things for you, but with you, cool? Cool!

Want to see more of a particular something in sims creations? Reply here. If you think there's a lack of cute elder clothes, or a particular brand of fantasy-style CC, a body mesh you really love or type of hair style, tell us!

The point of this thread is to hopefully inspire people to make more of whatever you think is lacking. Again, it's not for specific requests, there are other places for that. This is just to give a general idea of what you would personally like to see more of from creators.

Have some resources you'd like to share? Websites that are good for textures or meshes, or just have really pretty pictures that inspire you to create? How about tutorials you've found to be really helpful? Comment here!

How was your week in sims? TELL US ALL ABOUT IT IN THIS THREAD. We would like to know about your new legacy heir or your conquer of that mesh with which you were doing battle!

I HEARD YOU LEFT THE COMPUTER AT SOME POINT THIS WEEK. What was that like? If you just want to blather or let off steam about the week you had outside of sims, share non-sim links of interest or what have you, this is the thread for it!

Speaking of meshes: HP's Gaius hair. Gender conversion AND age conversion because Hat provided me with an appropriate bribe. Trying to get linking the recolour to the new meshes to work quite possibly gave me double the silver hair I already have.

One more mesh, and then I only have an eternity of clickybutton work for the recolours. Hahahasob.

Fountains - one tile, two tile, four tile, nine tile... Don't need to have statues, but good stone/metal textures on basic shapes would be great.

My next recolour (for GOS) is finished! I've also learned to attach custom thumbnails to accessories.

Baldur's Gate is awesome; all the ~hXc~ gamers who complain about graphics can stuff a sock in it.

I'm hoping to get done with my Nouk hairs for my next hair dump-- got eighteen done so far (HP, mostly with Alfred textures, a fixed Peggy hair because her alpha-ing fails and this was brought to my attention, Aligeth's Courtly Locks and monk's tonsure, and a good start on the Noukishness), but dang man I feel like I need a nap because my frickin' brother-in-law brought contagion into the house, of the 'nothing that comes out of me should be that shade of green' variety. I'm trying to finish up Nouk's Lady hair (fifteen or sixteen groups per age. This is not appropriate don't do that), but I have gone all droopy with the button-clicking. Still got eleven Nouk hairs I want to finish, but. At this rate, today is a wash. I should just go watch cartoons.

And yet I am all "MUST HAVE ALL THE HAIRS ALL OF THEM not that one it's not Medieval enough BUT ALL THE REST OF THEM except this one the more I look at it the more I hate it BUT ALL THE REST OF THEM wasn't somebody fixing this one maybe I'll wait..."

Gaius and Gaiusette (and whatever you're doing to Nouk's Male Long hair?) will wedge their way onto my list just as soon as meshes appear. I've already got HP's textures Pooklet'd, and Alfred's are waiting for all the button-clicking.

Oh, also, I actually managed to retexture HP's Kara in a fashion I am happy with! Not just reduce the contrast but I wedged Pooklet's textures onto there!

My snooty guess is anyone complaining about graphics just can't hack the game. *grins* Then again, I like it -- not quite as much as the sequel since it has a better pace and more refined engine, but the first is still pretty cool.

Have you played Planescape: Torment? (It's a similar sort of game but the same game studio and deeply awesome.)

I can still paint doll eyes! My eventually-Christine-Daae (for my set, see. I have Sarah Williams from Labyrinth, Lydia Deitz from Beetlejuice (although she needs clothes of her own), and when I give this girl a perm, Christine Daae from Phantom of the Opera, and my trio of Virginal but Precocious Young Girls with Supernatural or Preternatural Stalkers-with-Crushes will be complete, at least for the three stories that dominated my adolescence) now has blue eyes looking forward, instead of gray eyes looking off to the side.

I like side-glancing eyes, but damn it makes it hard to make the dolls interact. ANYway, I also need to do a set of brown eyes for practice, because that's what my client wants-- there are different tricks to painting brown eyes.

I really need to move my doll journal over to DW. And take some better pictures now I have a better camera.

The last mesh cooperated, so! *fistpump* I'll be recolouring the Gaius/Gaia ones with Alfred's textures and your binning system, fyi. I need to alpha the textures, but they're already recoloured. But the eternity of clickybuttoniiing -- although the worst part is waiting for the import. It takes as long as a skintone with different textures for every single age, I swear.

Sympathy on getting the plague! I hope you feel better soon.

No, though it sounds quite interesting from what I read on TV Tropes. (a floating skull for a party member? Awesome.)

Oh, wait, there's one I don't have to do? AWESOME. I'll just do HP's textures, for versatility. And god I know about the damned importing. Part of it is the sheer size of the files, although it does at least preserve Alfred's lovely curls. I'm all excited, it's such a nice reasonable haircut for kids! And women. But kids! Kids need hair.

I think Kara came out rather nicely, really! 'Better' is probably a matter of taste, but it at least blends in with Pooklet's textures.

I am MOST excited to hear about a re-texture of HP's Kara hair - love the style (except perhaps that strand of fringe, which I might have to overcome my fear of alpha-editing to deal with), but really can't stand the textures these days...I was so in love with it when it first came out! :D

That's something I've not yet managed to suss (the whole accessory-thumbnail thing) - it still seems like some form of alchemy to me - so I'm most impressed!

The floating skull is definitely one of the best parts of the game. He's a mouthy thing. XD

I can't recommend the game highly enough. It's got a fabulously rich storyline and the main character's alignment has much more bearing on how the game plays out than in the BG games. Also, you start by waking up in a morgue. :D

I'm pretty pleased with it myself! Couple of days to finish my Nouk hairs and my commission and get all my swatches made and clever names come up with (five out of... twenty-one have names so far, and I just can't upload something without a name!), and I'll have a hair dump to go up.

I need, like, a preview banner for hair dumps. I hate not having anything besides babble and boilerplate outside the cut.

Ooooh. Yes, I want to see pics of those dolls!

It's on my list of things to get done.

It's full of so much hilarious ISBI fail, too!

"Completer" sets for Maxis objects. A lot of Maxis sets don't have enough objects to decorate a whole room in that style - they usually lack bookcases, and also lack bathtubs, coffee tables, bath/shower combos, desks, one-tile tables, etc.

More stuff for bathrooms! I only have a few custom bath sets in game (because a lot of custom sets don't animate properly, or are very high-poly, or just ugly), and I'm getting sick of using them again and again. I have lots of bright and cute bath stuff, and some modern stuff in black/white and metallics - I have nothing that's ornate or old-fashioned and elegant. And more bath/shower combos, since I usually don't have room to place both a shower and a tub.
